Welome to 8th Grade ELA!

Dear families and scholars,

We are so excited to kick off this new school year!

8th grade ELA is a superb opportunity to grow as thinkers, writers, speakers, and as people. In this class, students are going to engage with a variety of texts and text types, stretching their minds to make meaning and connections in new and unfamiliar ways. Below you will find our course objectives.

* Expose students to a diverse selection of fiction, nonfiction and informational texts as prescribed by the Common Core Learning Standards

* Develop and enhance critical thinking skills

* Enhance grammar, writing, research, and presentation skills

* Create a safe, positive environment conducive to sharing experiences, ideas, and writings

* Work collaboratively and effectively on group assignments

* Grow and mature as thinkers, learners, and citizens of the world
